Missing Comments on this Blog

If you recently commented on an entry in this blog and the entry still appears to reflect "0 comments", please be assured that that doesn't mean I removed your comment. Blogger appears to have a bug which causes the number of comments on a post to be rendered incorrectly--but only if you're looking at the blog page as a whole. I've found that all the comments show if you're just looking at an individual post. See also this link.

EDIT: 7/7/2010 9:50 a.m. EDT--The problem may have been fixed. The post where I noticed it now shows the correct number of comments.

  1. I haven't noticed that. However, every time I post something to my "Lady Patricia of Trakai" blog, I get at least one comment from Asian spammers. At least I presume they are from Asia because they use Asian characters followed by a series of dots .......... in which each dot is a hyperlink to some page of photos of barely legal girls, if you know what I mean. That's why I turned on comment moderation.

I really wish I would get a legitimate comment about medieval Baltic history. Sigh.

  2. I've always had comment moderation turned on here--and even so, there have been a few dubious comments I've had to remove.

Don't give up hope! It will take you longer to get real comments because so many fewer people who speak English are interested in medieval Baltic history than are interested in some area of costume. But I'm sure your blog will find its following.

  3. In my case, my blog disappeared completely! But it turned out that there was just some temporary glitch in Blogger's system. Perhaps we have the same case? Read my story about what happened to my blog, and you might figure out what went wrong in yours. Thanks!

  4. kPg: Thanks for your comment, and your story. As my "EDIT" above notes, the glitch that led to the missing comments was fixed shortly thereafter.

However, I appreciate your warning. I make use of Blogger's feature that allows the exporting of blog posts (though, sadly, not comments) in xml. So I keep a current copy of those posts at all times, in case the worst happens. If you ever learn of a way I can export both comments and entries, please let me know
